It increases blood flow and circulation, effectively relaxing contracted muscles, easing stiffness and discomfort. Basil essential oil: a lively, herbal, spicy aroma with anise-like undertones. Basil is believed to be anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antidepressant, antispasmodic and anti-bacterial. Due to it’s anti-inflammatory properties, this oil is beneficial for arthritis and muscle aches. It also appears to be effective in reducing pain and discomfort from overexertion. Lemongrass essential oil: a pungent, slightly bitter, lemony aroma with grassy undertones. This oil is considered to be analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, antiseptic and tonic, with excellent deodorizing qualities. Lemongrass oil helps tone the muscles and tissue, relieving muscle pains by making the muscle more supple. In addition, it is excellent for increasing circulation, especially when combined with wild marjoram essential oil. Eucalyptus essential oil: a strong, fresh, camphor-like aroma. Eucalyptus is known to be anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiviral, anti-bacterial and anti-infectious. It has a slightly warming property on the skin and is helpful in relieving muscle aches, pains and stiffness. Fir essential oil: a fresh, woody, pine-like aroma. Fir oil is known as an expectorant, antiseptic, sedative and tonic. It has been found to be very effective in soothing overworked or tired muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints. Arnica oil: Arnica oil is created by macerating the flowers in a fixed oil. This creates an oil that is high in linoleic acid, thymol (essential oil) and helenalin. Helenalin is believed to have pain relieving properties. This oil is considered to be beneficial for soothing muscle aches, reducing inflammation, bruising, sprains and sports injuries. It is a topical remedy and is NOT to be used internally or on open wounds. It is known to help balance the body by redistributing fluids to promote efficient healing. Grapeseed oil: a carrier oil rich in vitamins, minerals and linoleic acid. It is a light, hypoallergenic, penetrating oil that is absorbed rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. In addition, grape seed oil has mildly astringent qualities, which help to tighten and tone the skin. Apricot kernel oil: a light, non-greasy carrier oil that is rich in essential fatty acids like oleic and linoleic acid. Apricot kernel oil is also high in Vitamin A. Since it easily penetrates the skin, it is a good oil for prematurely aged, dry, dehydrated, irritated or itchy skin. This oil helps skin to retain elasticity, clarity, and suppleness. Sesame oil: a carrier oil utilized for its moisturizing properties. It is a very gentle, soothing emollient. Sesame oil is rich in vitamin E and B complex, protein, lecithin and the minerals calcium, magnesium and phosphorous - all of which are essential to healthy skin. It is considered to speed healing, preven drying, soften skin, and even has a natural sunscreen effect of SPF4. Wheat germ oil: an unrefined carrier oil rich in Vitamins A, D and E.
