Oil Properties for Garden Path Silken Butterfly Body Oil:
Lavender essential oil: a soft, floral/herbal scent. Lavender is a universal oil. It
is known for its calming, relaxing & soothing properties. It is excellent for
balancing skin conditions and is considered to be antiseptic,
anti-inflammatory and antifungal.
Ylang Ylang essential oil: an intensely sweet, tropical floral aroma with an
exotic hint of spice. This oil is considered to be antiseptic, antispasmodic,
anti-depressant and sedative. It has a calming quality that helps to balance
the emotions. Some consider it to be a euphoric and aphrodisiac, as well.
Camelina oil: a carrier oil that is very high in the essential fatty acid of linoleic
acid. It is nourishing to the skin, helps to improve skin elasticity and may assist
in cell repair of the skin. Camelina oil penetrates the skin easily and leaves a
smooth, silky feeling, without the necessity of repeated applications.
Grapeseed oil: a carrier oil rich in vitamins, minerals and linoleic acid. It is a
light, hypoallergenic, penetrating oil that is absorbed rapidly into the skin
without leaving a greasy residue. In addition, grape seed oil has mildly
astringent qualities, which help to tighten and tone the skin.
Apricot kernel oil: a light, non-greasy carrier oil that is rich in essential fatty
acids like oleic and linoleic acid. Apricot kernel oil is also high in Vitamin A.
Since it easily penetrates the skin, it is a good oil for prematurely aged, dry,
dehydrated, irritated or itchy skin. This oil helps skin to retain elasticity, clarity,
and suppleness.
Sesame oil: a carrier oil utilized for its moisturizing properties. It is a very gentle,
soothing emollient. Sesame oil is rich in vitamin E and B complex, protein,
lecithin and the minerals calcium, magnesium and
phosphorous - all of which are essential to healthy skin. It is considered to
speed healing, prevent drying, soften skin, and even has a natural sunscreen
effect of SPF4.
Wheat germ oil: a carrier oil rich in Vitamins A, D and E. It is nourishing to the
skin. This oil is said to stimulate tissue regeneration and is often added to other
oil blends because of its antioxidant properties.
Vitamin E oil: an oil used as a natural preservative. Vitamin E oil is considered
an anti-oxidant.
